Course Overview

In this webinar, Kevin Ryan again shares his knowledge of the Methods developed by Australian Osteopath Thomas (Tom) Bowen for helping clients with presentations of muscular-skeletal pain and dysfunction. These methods use well-known acupuncture points with a rolling soft tissue method applied in a specific sequence to achieve an improved range of motion to joint function. Nine real clients with a range of complaints are presented with a history of their condition. They are examined and appropriate postural, orthopedic and Range of Motion tests are applied.

A session plan for each client is devised that takes into account the developmental sequence of the complaint over time. The appropriate Bowen Methods are selected based on the above information and carried out to match the plan. As an example there are three cases presenting with knee dysfunction. The sequence of application of the Methods is different based on the history, observation and testing. Assessment of the effectiveness of each method and a comparative postural assessment is carried out at the end of the session.

Pre-requisite: Bowen Methods Course 1 and Course 2.

Objectives

  • The viewer will further develop an understanding of the uniqueness of the Bowen methods as a Tui Na, Shiatsu or bodywork tool through exposure to the application of the Methods to different clients.
