Course Overview
"We are all connected." In the Five Element paradigm Wood follows Water.
This phase helps us manifest a sense of inner purpose and direction in our lives. The classic texts of Chinese Medicine suggest that the Wood phase is powerful, creative and forceful.
Acupressure & Embodied touch are used to locate acupoints and Meridians on ourselves and canine friends. Understanding the Meridians and the flow of Qi, is essential to understanding the Five Elements. There are 12 major paired, yin/yang meridians or vessels, including the Liver and Gallbladder Meridians, associated with the Wood Element. The Conception and Governing Vessels, or "Extraordinary Meridians," run through the center front and center back of the body. Other extra vessels, like the Girdle or Dai Mai Vessel, the only horizontal vessel in the body, and Chong Mai or Penetrating Vessel, are introduced, along with specific acupoints for various conditions.
Energy cultivating exercises such as the "Microcosmic Orbit," are presented here, as well as a Zoom presentation, inviting students to build their Qi and their animal friends' energy with movement exercises, like "Do-In", meditation and visualization exercises. "Shiatsu" and "Do-In", are Japanese forms that apply acupressure and embodied touch on or around the body. One goal is to strengthen our gut or "Hara," sometimes called the somatic brain, "watering" and building our wood tree energy to strengthen the body, mind and spirit.
