Ellen Goldsmith

Ellen Goldsmith, licensed acupuncturist is a recognized educator, health advocate, practitioner of Chinese medicine and author of the book Nutritional Healing with Chinese Medicine: + 175 Recipes for Optimal Health.

 

For over 25 years Ellen has shared her passion for cultivating health, practicing Asian medicine, acupuncture, dietary therapy, Chinese herbs and body-mind health supporting thousands of people on their path to reduced pain, stress, and regained vitality.

 

As long time faculty at National University of Natural Medicine’s College of Classical Chinese Medicine and the School of Graduate Studies she teaches Chinese Dietetics and its application in Western society. She is also faculty for the Academy of Integrative Health in Medicine teaching integrative medicine fellows. Previously, she taught at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in the Drama department where she developed a distinct method for cultivating body/mind health for emerging performing artists. Her international teaching has trained hundreds of health professionals in the field of Asian Bodywork, self-transformation, and End of Life Care as co-facilitator in The Passage, a 5 day retreat for people experiencing difficult transitions or for those who want to work with the dying.

 

She regularly presents on the value of understanding food as medicine from a Chinese medicine point of view at conferences, universities, schools and on various media platforms.

 

Ellen was co-host of Healthwatch a regular program on Pacifica radio and the creator of Health Currents Radio, a podcast created to inspire, motivate, and connect people to resources that empower them through health.

 

Ellen’s commitment to increasing the public’s access to naturopathic and Chinese medicine is highlighted by her 8-year tenure on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee of the Oregon Medical Board and her 12 years of service on the National College of Natural Medicine’s board of directors, functioning on the Executive Committee, as chair of the board for 2-years.

 

Ellen is a graduate of the National University of Natural Medicine’s College of Classical Chinese Medicine program, with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. She practices in Portland, Oregon and virtually throughout the world.
