Course Overview

It seems like cannabis is EVERYWHERE these days. DO YOU KNOW how to advise your patients regarding this important herb? YOUR Patients ARE USING IT, whether as hemp (less than 0.3%THC), CBD, cannabis (more than 0.3%THC), a somewhat regulated professional herbal product, or a questionable industrial hemp "over the counter" preparation. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW? Let this class be your Primer to Practicing Good Medicine with Cannabis!

Our bodies have a master regulatory system which is now believed to be responsible for all homeostatic regulation. This regulatory system happens to contain chemicals very similar to chemicals within the cannabis plant, which can be activated and regulated through a variety of activities, foods, and herbs.

In this class, YOU will be introduced to the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), what it is, the vitally important things science has to say about it, and why it's important for a practitioner to understand.

Next, we will discuss Da Ma (Cannabis) the Superior Medicinal as it has appeared in the Chinese medicine classical texts of Shen Nong, Tao Hongjing and Li Shizhen. There will be an overview of how Da Ma is classified, how it was classically used, and an invitation to dive deeper into this fascinating medicinal in future classes and practice support groups.

Finally, there is a discussion of how Da Ma can be incorporated into the modern clinic including an overview of herb/drug interactions with common pharmaceuticals and selected case studies.
