Course Overview

This is a Live Webinar event that will be held on December 11, 2024 - 9am AWST, 12pm AEDT, 2pm NZDT.

 

This online course with Whitfield Reaves is designed as a question and answer type of mentoring group. The intention is to provide community with those interested in acupuncture sports medicine, and to have direct access to a teacher for questions and answers.

 

This 3 hour online course will be structured as follows:

 

(1) We will begin with a 30 minute presentation on a new topic of sports acupuncture. Included will be everything you need to know to integrate this topic into your clinical practice

 

(2) Question and answers on "Treatment of the Low Back and Hip: The Triad and The Secondary Pain Generators". We will review the important features of these two important topics.

 

(3) Questions and answer on "Anatomical Perspectives in the Treatment of Lower Extremity Pain". The essential features such as correcting posture and enhancing biomechanics and foot plant will be reviewed.

 

(4) We will have a discussion about managing a sports acupuncture practice, and answer any questions about this topic.

 

(5) And finally, Whitfield will present all of the supplies, needle types and sizes, and other devices that he uses in his practice of acupuncture sports medicine.

 

The recordings will be made available for you to review after the event!

Objectives

  • Learn about a specific sports injury, and how to use the point combination for other similar cases.

  • Review of treatments for foot and knee injury and pain.

  • How to integrate treating shoulder posture in to an acupuncture clinic, and using it as a means for practice building.

  • Learn about 5 important actions needed to be taken by the practitioner to build a sports medicine practice, and what supplies are needed for this type of sports clinic.

  • General discussion based upon case studies

Outline

  • December 11, 2024 - 9am AWST, 12pm AEDT, 2pm NZDT (3 hrs)

    Using anatomically based point protocols, and how they can be used for injuries on other tissues and structures of the body.

    Question and answer on treating foot and knee pain and injury. Case studies.

    Shoulder posture treatment, integrated with the proper therapeutic exercises of strengthening and stretching.

    Understand the needs and concerns of new practitioners as they build a sports medicine practice. This is a discussion and question/answers period.

    List all of the important types of equipment, needles and their sizes and brands, devices, and other medical supplies in a sports medicine practice.

    Discussion of case studies, group discussion and interaction.
