Course Overview

Please Note: This course is presented in Japanese and is verbally translated into English, back and forth, during the presentation.

In this fully video-based course Dr. Bear (Mr. Iwashina Anryu), a widely acknowledged master from Morioka, Japan, establishes a classical rationale for working with the teishin (Chinese: dizhen), one of the nine classical needles described in the Ling Shu. This tool can be used to augment normal insertive filiform acupuncture needle techniques. The teishin can be used regionally or in a point-specific manner. It can be used to tonify or to sedate points and regions.

Dr. Bear also lectures on an easily learned ""Checking Method"" that is used to determine whether a point should be tonified or sedated. He introduces the concept of ""Fundamental Treatment,"" a small set of points that are designed to create a general state of greater balance.

The Goals for this course are:

- Participants will learn about the classical rationale for working with non-insertive teishin

- Participants will learn how to both tonify and sedate points and regions of the body using teishin

- Participants will learn Dr. Bear's 'Checking Method', used to determine whether a point should be tonified or sedated
