Series Overview
Moxibustion Therapy is mentioned in the Huang Di Nei Jing Su Wen. In Japan one is trained and licenced in it separtely to acupuncture, herbs or bodywork. Having its own tradition and classics it is a stand-alone therapy useful for a wide variety of conditions.
In the course we will learn how to apply a constituitional treatment and a branch or symptom control. Covering a variety of treatment strategies, including General Whole Body treatments (Sawada style and Manaka style), specfic points unique to the moxa tradition, autonomic nervous system balancing, indirect moxa as well as alternative moxa strategies from the works of Sawada, Bunshi Shirota, and Fukaya. We will also look at use of moxa with children and pregnancy.
The use of moxibustion offers many possibilities in the journey of healing a patient takes with a practitioner. Able to access the body at a deep blood level, support the immune system, regulate the nervous system and treat in a non-invasive way the whole body no matter how chronic or complex the disease and its symptoms are.
This course will also cover safety and contraindications in the use of moxa while also offering many alternatives with smokeless methods. Lastly, while exposing you to the many tools and rolling methods available in the moxa tradition, we will complete our studies by explaining dosage, correcting overdosing, managing sensitive patients, and difficult stubborn conditions.

Paul Movsessian is a practitioner of Traditional East Asian Medicine, having been trained by some of the greatest teachers of Japan, and being in practice for 36 years. He lectures extensively and takes great joy in sharing the clinical pearls he has been given and has collected over the years.
