Course Overview

The following seminar on Shonishin/Erzhen - Children’s Needle Therapy is a workshop on these 300-year-old methods from Japan. A broad range of approaches will be discussed with a visual presentation. We will describe in detail the general whole body treatment and the use of this with protocols for the treatment of a range of specific symptoms

I will also include the moxa treatments of Dr. Manaka: Kyu to Hari and Okyu no Kenkyu; moxa treatments from Irie: Fukaya Kyu Ho; moxa treatments of Shiroda: Shinkyu Chiryo Kisogaku; press spheres, shonishin and needle treatments of Hyodo; Acupuncture Therapeutic Points Suited to Diseases and Disorders.

Traditional East Asian Medicine carries many specializations. In Chinese, Erzhen is known in Japan as Shonishin - Children's Needling. The treatment of children with this style is very rewarding due to the amazing responsiveness of the children's physiology. In fact the insertion of needles is very rarely necessary as we draw on the various non- insertive tools from the Nine Classical Needles found in the Ling Shu.

The continual development of these tools has produced various treatment strategies that we will investigate and practice.

Treatment of specific conditions such as: hyperactivity, bedwetting, night terrors, weak constitutions, asthma, fever, ear infections, contusions, insect bites, eczema and neuromotor-related problems, pus many more conditions will be covered.
