Course Overview
The Eight Extraordinary Meridians and their therapeutic use are often underutilized. Except in a few schools they are often left a little to the side and much too often not incorporated as an integral part of clinical practice.
The Eight Extraordinary Meridians form the basis of our physical structure. We can understand them as the main organizers of the skeletal system, the pelvis, the cranium, the Marrow and the Brain. These structures give us insight into their functions and pathways along with associated symptomatology as well.
In this course, we explore the anatomy and physiology along with pragmatic use of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. Additionally, we’ll look at how the functions of these Extraordinary Vessels are a helpful add-on not only to Meridian based practices like SAAM acupuncture, Japanese Meridian Therapy, Tuina and Shiatsu, but also to more classically based methods and even TCM.

Thomas Sorenson has a very deep knowledge of his subject matter. He often presents material not covered at schools. I can highly recommend his courses to those acupuncturists who would like to deepen their knowledge of basic concepts.

I was introduced to acupuncture in 1996 while undertaking studies in Korean language and culture in Seoul, South Korea. One acupuncture treatment with a few needles on the opposite leg of the knee that I had injured during martial arts practice took away my knee pain instantly and completely.
