Course Overview
In this course, Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallee presents the classical Chinese medicine understanding of the Wei pathology. This course is centered on the study of Suwen chapter 44 and other classical texts. This course covers the main characteristics of Wei pathology that are often translated into English as "wilting" or "atony". Clinical presentation of Wei pathology covering Biomedicine disease categories such as muscular atrophy, paralysis, and dystrophy are examined in detail. This course also included a synthesis of the meaning and treatment of Wei syndrome in various ancient and modern Chinese texts.

Outline
0 hrs - 1 hrs
General presentation of Wei syndrome. Analysis of the character Wei. The usual meaning of this pathology in classical texts.
1 hrs - 2 hrs
General presentation of Suwen Chapter 44 on Wei Syndrome. The effects of heat from each of the five zang organs on different parts of the body.
2 hrs - 3 hrs
The heat in the five zang and the process leading to the five kids of Wei.
3 hrs - 4.25 hrs
The different causes leading to the heat of each of the five zang will be studied in detail: emotions, exhaustion, exterior pathogenic agents.
4.25 hrs - 6 hrs
The importance of the yangming in the treatment of the main patterns of this disease. Wei pathology in the Jingui yaolue and in the Shanghanlun. A review of points and treatments for Wei pathology; recorded questions.
