Michael Berletich
As of 2024, Dr. Michael Berletich has been in private practice for 20 years and has for the past 23 years been a faculty member of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland OR where he has been teaching graduate level Chinese medicine. He has served the college and it's students in many capacities including as a Professor, Clinical Supervisor, Department Chair of Chinese medicine and Dean of Faculty.
His love of teaching Chinese medicine is palpable. He is particularly interested in classical theory, philosophy and cosmology and how these areas can greatly enhance and hone our ability to be excellent clinicians. He has many years of experience teaching herbs, formulas, acupuncture techniques, palpation skills, clinical reasoning and is keen to help students and patients treat and solve chronic, difficult and recalcitrant diseases. He specializes in Internal medicine as a clinician in private practice. He feels equally at ease using Acupuncture, Herbal medicine, Qigong (LingQi/Reiki healing), Myofascial Release, Cranial Sacral therapy and nutrition counseling.
In both his teaching and clinical work he seeks to honor his amazing teachers who have taught and inspired him from across the globe including China, Europe, New Zealand and across the United States including in particular his Native American teachers whom he states "taught him how to be a human being". He feels the wisdom of his teachers, the inherent wisdom of Nature and the wisdom of the classical texts is an unending source of inspiration and a bedrock foundation that helps all people to live a better life. If you press him, he will say he is most inspired by his students and teachers and their commitment to carrying themselves and the medicine forward.
Outside of medicine and teaching, Michael enjoys writing songs and playing music, learning, traveling, Nature and being in his garden with the bees, his partner Ewa and their cat Doozy.
